The 2022 Indigenous Voices in Fashion is an event organized by Kim Coltman of Fashion Speaks International.
This thrilling outdoor show hosted at Quaaout Lodge on Skwlax territory will be sure to stand out as a brilliantly unique experience. The incredibly talented designers include Valerie Davidson-Oar, Sandra Froher, Lyn Kay, Carol Laboucan, Ashley Michel, and Shellz Runns. To read more about the designers, please read down below!
Giggy's Beads Boutique
Valerie Davidson-Oar is an Anishinaabe First Nations woman from Manitoba living on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples – Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ilwətaɁɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
Valerie is a jewelry maker and beadwork artist, who reflects her culture and story in the work that she creates. Her jewelry has been featured in galleries in the greater Vancouver area, across BC, and in countless fashion shows.

Ringing Bell Robes
Lyn Kay Peters is an Ojibway/Cree designer born in Red Lake, Ontario and now a member of the Seabird Island Band in British Columbia. Her fashion line, Ringing Bell Robes, is derived from her Cree name, “Kaysaywaysemat.”
Her work specializes in custom made, one of a kind, quality attire for men and women. Cree, Ojibway & Coast Salish designs & symbols from artists Al Bowering, Gabriel George, George Pennier, Fred Price, Irene Olsen adorn the garments.
Eco Tripping : Wear Nature
Sandra Prest-Froher is a Coast Salish artist, designer and natural dyer who lives and works on the traditional ancestral and unceded territory of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. Her textile art is focused on eco-print dyeing using plants on natural fabrics like silk. Sandra uses botanical dyes derived from leaves, bark, stems, seeds, roots, and acorns. Sandra's one-of-a-kind wearable art is a slow cloth approach to textile art and harnesses environmentally sustainable colour from the local landscape. She sees each creation acting as a conduit of care, collaboration, and re-consideration between human-plant relations.

Native By Nature
Michelle Lee Runns AKA MzShellz is an emerging Cree Hip Hop artist and owner of “Native by Nature” Apparel hailing from Regina, Saskatchewan. Since relocating to British Columbia, the mother of 4 has been rocking stages from Vancouver all the way to Albuquerque, NM.
MzShellz has taken her new platform through her music to send messages of strength to the Youth and seeks to empower Women & girls around the world to know that anything is possible if you truly believe in yourself. She hopes to further these goals with her next album, “Boss Lady”, currently in progress

4 Generations Creations
Ashley Michel is a self-taught Secwepemc seamstress and artist living in Kamloops BC. 4 Generations Creations started in 2013 after the birth of Ashley’s daughter and her desire to raise her young girl in culture and language. Her daughter was the motivation behind teaching herself how to sew and design clothing and regalia.
Ashley prides herself in creating authentic wearable pieces of clothing and regalia, working to make a place in the colonized world. By doing this, Ashley is encouraging others to show their resilience and be proud of who they are by being "unapologetically Indigenous".

Cree-Ations Leather Works
Cree-Ations Leather Works is a business by Carol Laboucan.
Carol is a Cree fashion designer, originally from the Lesser Slave Lake Reserve in Alberta, but has since settled and created a business in Chase, BC. She has been creating and designing beautiful hand-made articles of clothing for over 25 years, specializing in leatherwork and leather garment crafting.
About the Fashion Show:
This fashion show is a part of a Telus Storyhive documentary, spectators will be required to sign an image release form upon arrival, prior to the beginning of the show. You can opt to not appear in the documentary, however we will have to seat you at the back of the venue.

Standard $35.00 + tax VIP Experience $55.00 + tax (VIP includes front-row seats, access to the VIP party, meet and greet with the models and designers, and access to the designer booths.)
