SECWEPEMC'ULUCW, BC - The 2 Rivers Remix Society (2RMX) is hosting the "WE ARE STILL HERE" Movable Feast, that will visit several communities in the BC Southern Interior from July 2nd - July 10th. This FREE contemporary music festival is open to the public and will invite Indigenous artists from across Turtle Island to the Secwepemc territory.
The annual free 2RMX festival is traditionally hosted in the Tl'kemtsin (Lytton) community, but due to the devastating wildfires last year, the feast is travelling to neighboring communities that showed support to the people displaced by the fires.
According to 2RMX Artistic Director Meeka Morgan, “This last 2 years, and especially this last year, has been a time of incredible adversity, yet the love of people, communities and Nations has held us during our toughest moments… and as Nlaka'pamux elder Charon Spinks recently stated, ‘we greet each day with graciousness regardless of what it brings.’ 2RMX is humbled and thankful to be supported by our neighboring Indigenous Nations during this difficult period of adaptation until the day we can return to Tl'kemtsin. Until that day, we continue our work of uplifting contemporary Indigenous Musical Artists.”
The "WE ARE STILL HERE" Movable Feast will have four legs to the main feast, including stops in Lillooet, Tuckkwiowhum (Boston Bar), Tk'emlups (Kamloops), and St'uxwtews (Cache Creek). The main feast has also partnered with the Indigenous Resurgence Project, who will be organizing artisan markets in all four locations.
This year’s 2RMX event horizon is headlined by massive meteorites, including 2022 Juno Winner and Godfather of Pow Wow Step – DJ SHUB and WAR CLUB LIVE, International Hip-Hop Mega-Streaming Stars – SNOTTY NOSE REZ KIDS, Juno-Winning Country Gospel Superstar – WILLIAM PRINCE, Blues Soul Rockers and Juno Winners – DIGGING ROOTS, 2XJuno Winner (2021+2007) and Northern Roots Warrioress – LEELA GILDAY, Juno-Winning Melodical Hip-Hop Goddess – KINNIE STARR, CTV’S ‘The Launch’ Winner and Mohawk Rocker – LOGAN STAATS.
